A Well Turned Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

 Lost Boys & Co...

So here, in photo #1 we have December 1st in Boise, Idaho.  It's around 8:30am and the sun is just breaking through the trees.  Yes, yes it's beautiful.  You wouldn't think it's that much further north, but it sure is.  The ambient temperature is 16º.  Most of this pond is frozen leaving about a third left for these Canada Geese to swim around in and freeze their tail feathers.

Here the sun came charging up over the horizon this morning and lit up a cloudless sky with unlimited visibility.  Winds were offshore by 4.5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 57.3º and the water was 64.9º.  Low tide was at 8:43am +2.8' and high tide was only marginally higher at 1:48pm +3.9'.  The buoy was showing a west swell out of 265º at 3.9' and the surf was 3' to 4' with some fatter outsides.  Word has it the swell is supposed to increase over the next few days.  Check it out...

Photo #2 is December 2nd in Hermosa Beach, California.  It's 6:30, the sun is coming up and the ambient temp is 57.3º.  If you're thinking that's cold, remember the water is 64.9º!  So, it's 48.9º warmer in the water in Hermosa this morning than it was yesterday in Boise, Idaho.  We're just sayin'...  And why aren't the geese here instead of there?  Do they like the seasons?  Were these the stupid geese?  Did someone not tell them about the "Western Flyway?"

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
