Grads And Dads Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Breakfast sandwich, Texas style.  Basically, a Toad-in-the-Hole on top of ham, bacon and sausage, then shortly after this photo was taken, "covered in red-eye gravy."  The "hole" had a glob of strawberry jelly that looked like a heart on top.  We thought the waitress might be trying to send us a subliminal message, but no, it just looked like a heart...

Clear skies this morning with a bit of fog wafting through around 8am.  Winds were off by 3.7kts and the sea surface was smooth to glassy.  The air temp was 59 and warmed quickly and the water is 64.9.  Low tide was at 9:03am +0.58' and high tide follows at 4:19pm at (and we're not making this up) +4.19'.  We have a SSW swell out of 205º at 3.6' and it was a fun 3' to 4' with some nice low tide zippers...

Of course even in Texas, you have to have dinner!  We were surprised at how cosmo the little town of Rockwall was!  We ate at Zanata (#2), just off the San Jacinto Plaza and the Professor had paella, which he found quite delectable!  Fish and pizzas with fresh ingredients rounded out the fare...  Farmers Market was on Saturday and there were great fruits and vegetables from this part of Texas...  But surprisingly (or not) not a lot of cowboy hats...

#3 Sent us scurrying to our theological advisers.  "Camo for Christ" with the "God - Family - Outdoors" subtext started us questioning on way too many levels.  When Jesus comes, if he's wearing camo, are most folks gonna recognize him or see him at all.  Are they suggesting we keep our religion and family outdoors?  Which does have some appeal in many cases.  Finally, their logo with the cross with antlers over a Chi-Rho, made us wonder if there wasn't too much going on there, or at least questionable messages being sent...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
