Fourth Of July Eve Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Yes, you have one guess as to our next stop on the "Surf Where You Don't Expect To Find It" tour.  Okay, it's Venice, Italy (#1) and no, there wasn't any surf there, but yes there was a bit of excitement as a cruise ship took out several yards of dock and sent people into the water and crowds scurrying in the opposite direction...  We stuck with the gondola scene...

Overcast this morning and 5 miles visibility.  Winds were blowing with some authority out of the south by 6.6kts and the sea surface had a slight bump.  The air temperature was 62.3 and the water is 68.4.  Low tide was early at 4:47am -1.4' and high tide will be at 11:21am +4.0'.  We are enjoying a SSW swell out of 202º at 3.9' and it was 3' to 4' and quite tasty for all those salt water gourmets...

One of our favorite things to do is wander around the back "streets" and paths and basically get lost.  Here LoLa (#2) wonders if we'll make it back to the apartment for breakfast...

Looking down this canal toward the "Bridge Of Sighs." (#3)  There was a tour passing through in the foreground and  we thought we'd scare the shit out of you with the crowds.  If the bridge were built today it might still be called the Bridge of Sighs, but because of all the tours...  It was busy, but you could get away and have a perfectly delightful time...

The most amazing thing about this shot of LoLa in front of the Ponte Vecchio (#4) is that there isn't anyone on the bridge!  The Professor turned around and went "Stop, I have to take your picture!"  The rest is history...

Here's hoping that you guys will find your way to happy hour this week.  Friday morning the Professor goes under the knife for hernia surgery and the doctor has suggested he won't be in the mood for celebrating Friday evening...  What do they know anyway?

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
