Lost Boys & Co...

Ah, the campanile and the Doge's palace off the square in Venice (#1)  This time we noticed that there was a drop in the number of pigeons that make the square their home.  A bit of inquiry led us to find that there has been a concerted effort to reduce the number of pigeons that overrun the area.  Early in the morning there is a crew that makes it's way through the plaza and they trap hundreds of the birds.  Maybe you've noticed the abundance of squab on the Venetian menus...  Not surprising...

The sun is taking his sweet time coming out and it's overcast for the checkout with 7 miles visibility.  The air temperature is 65.5 and the water is slow to warm at 66.7.  Low tide was at 9:41am +0.7' and high tide will be at 4:39pm +5.2'.  We have a SW swell out of 217º at 3.6', but once again it's a little to angled to hit us with enough power.  It's 2' and poor to fair...

Most summer evenings you'll find the various orchestras (#2) along the plaza running through their repertoires.  Incredibly patient and polite, they wait until group the group ahead has finished and then they start their next number.  This evening they were playing a number of Disney show tunes, which had the assembled throng singing along...

One of our favorite edifices is the clock tower on the north side of the plaza (#3).  Featuring the lion of St. Mark, the bell ringers mark the quarter, half and full hours by ringing their bell.  It should be noted as a caution, that both guys have significant hearing loss...

Happy hour will be a new spot on the corner of 11th and Hermosa Ave. called Crafty Minds, Brews & Bites.  We'll be there at 5:30 if you want to order before happy hour runs out at 6.  There's a new chef there and he comes well recommended...  We'll see about that...
