At Long Last Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

After a long drought of Hermosa breaking on the sand and doing nothing but clobbering the shorebreak, it looks like a couple of the sandbars have retreated to the outside and are ready to provide some waves that aren't catastrophes waiting to happen.  The RUHS team had a great session (#1) in preparation for tomorrow's "Kickoff Classic".  It's one of the biggest contests on the coast with a couple of hundred participants.  Thursday's heats will feature the women, so if you want to catch some excellent girl's surfing, come down to Hermosa.  The contest starts at 6:30 and goes until about 8:30am.

Cloudy this morning with 5 miles visibility.  Winds were 3 to 5kts offshore and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 64.1º and the water is 65.7º.  High tide was at 7:40am +5.4' and low tide was at 1:34pm +1.2'.  We have a SSW swell out of 195º at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3' with some well shaped zippers reeling down the beach.  Couple of outstanding performances from Ronnie Garcia and Burnsy who were riding the lefts all the way to the beach and them some.
