Now We Can Get Ready For Halloween Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Okay, at last we're ready to start considering Halloween.  Never you mind that stuff started appearing in the stores right after Labor Day, or that the costume closets have been vibrating for a month.  Nope, now it's time to start carving some pumpkins, breaking out the Dracula teeth and cape and waxing-up for "Spooky Surf."  We saw this ride (#1) in Kapolei a week ago in Hawaii.  There were skeletons on the front fenders as well...

Talk about spooky surf!  This morning at 5:30am it was drizzling, verging on rain, with the wind blowing out of the west by 16kts.  By 7am it was blowing offshore, the bumps were calming down and Sapphire had 30 people out.  The air temperature was 61.2º and the water is 65.7º, driven down a notch by the winds.  High tide was at 6:50am +4.4' and low tide was at 11:48am +2.8' setting us up for some minus tides at the end of the week.  A west swell out of 265º at 5.2' and it was 4' to 5' with an occasional shampoo on the outside.

Who knows what it will be like mañana, but we'll keep you in the action...
