Didn't See It Coming Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So our fave photog Kevin Gilligan was on the scene on Sunday for this year's "Spooky Surf."  With years of chasing down action sports he was right on the scene to chronicle Doc Scale auguring into this unsuspecting citizen (#1) south of the pier.  Of course south of the pier is a "no fault" surfing zone.  Now, to the unpracticed eye it appears that Doc took off right into this guy, but what you can't see is that NO ONE SHOULD TAKE OFF WHEN DOC IS PADDLING!  His intense concentration, Olympic paddling style and lack of peripheral vision should deter even the most enthusiastic surfer from taking off within 50'.  This guy felt Doc's wrath!  For more action go to "Photos KAG"!

After fun surf all weekend things died down today.  A beautiful morning with 20+ miles visibility under cloudless skies.  Winds were offshore by 3 to 5kts and the sea surface was smoothly brushed.  The air was a chillin' 48.8º and the water dropped another couple of degrees to 63.7º.  High tide was at 10:10am +6.6' and low tide will be draining at 5:19pm -0.7' for some beach combing fun.  We have a SSW swell out of 202º at 2.6' and it wasn't ready to create any corners as it lined up along the sand.  We need a bit more sand to help things out.  It's getting close though!
