Widening Gyre Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

1.)  Here we have the surge threatening to engulf the bikepath at "Burnout."  Flowing back up the outfall the high tide was cresting all along the shore from the Pier to Torrance Beach.  This, in our humble opinion, is a good thing.  Looks like tons of sand being washed out to sea to replenish the diminishing sandbars that have plagued us all summer (summer?) long.  Let's see what happens!

Foggies, dense this morning with sometimes less than 100yds visibility.  Winds were light on, from 12 to 3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 64.4º and the water is 67.6º.  An early low tide at 4:50am +2.8', leading into the reported high tide at 11:46am +5.6'.  It's a WSW swell out of 250º at 3.6' and there were some 4' to 6' thrashers pounding Hermosa, while other spots flooded out on the tide.  Should be interesting mañana...
