Queen of Denial Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We found ourselves continuously on the opposite side of the Nile from where we wanted to be next.  Which actually was fortuitous considering we got to be on the river every day.  You don't realize how closely the culture adheres to the river, considering that a few miles from the river it's the most inhospitable desert you've ever seen.  Not like the Mojave or the high desert where there are Joshua trees or cacti, there's not a blade of grass or even lichens to be found.  The river, of course, is charming and makes you want to spend you time on it's banks.  Here (#1) we have Sancho and LoLa heading over to the Luxor side of the river to do a bit of exploring...

A bit of surprise this morning as some waves broke through the extremely high tide.  15 miles visibility and a few wispy clouds, not counting the smoke over the Marina.  Winds were offshore at 2 to 4kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was a chilly 49.1º and the water is 63.1º.  High tide was at 7:46am +6.6' and low tide was at 3:13pm -1.1'.  A pretty big swing.  It's a west swell out of 272º at 3.6' and it turned out to be a 3' to 5' surf breaking close to shore but not too close.  Hans (Lego-Man) was ripping and got some great waves!  Hoping for some good ones mañana...
