Working With A Net Wednesday Surf &Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here (#1) is part of the recon crew dangling over the rushing, snow fed Lütshine River about 100' below. Under where the Unterer Grindelwaldgletscher (Lower Grindelwald Glacier) cut a narrow canyon as it's been retreating for the last 100 years.  When they first cut this trail and built it out of the gorge part of it was through ice tunnels.  Well that's history and maybe there are some folks who don't believe in climate change, but they do.  Now in the place of the ice tunnels are dozens of waterfalls bursting into the gorge making it rather like walking behind Niagara Falls.  If that wasn't enough, they spread this spider web for those who wanted to climb out over the river.  Well, our lead, Nanny the Scout, took off across the span and Lilly Panda Cheeseburger followed her without reserve.  You can see that Rebecca, Nathan and Scarlett had some reservations.  Fun and a little terrifying, it was done with the promise of chocolate at the end of the hike!

Meanwhile here at home things are a bit more pacific, as we have another sunny day with 15 miles visibility under hazy skies.  Winds out of the SW by 1 to 2kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was 63.8º and the water at the buoy is 63.1º.  Low tide was at 7:37am -0.6' and high tide will be at 2:31pm +4.2'.  It's a SSW swell out of 202º at 2.6' and it was 1' to 2' and fun for a dip according to Laurie and Anna!
