Furrowed Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here's a rare shot of the Professor locked in the green room!  Yeah, we know it's a bit corny, but that's how it is on the farm.  Unfortunately this corn was for silage and grain and not for eating.  It had ears that were actually longer than the Coach's and the Professor's put together.  But both the Professor and Coach have longer ear hair than cornsilk.

A beautiful Friday morning here in the Southland.  We have 15 miles visibility under a hazy sun.  Winds are calm and the sea surface is glassy.  The air temp is 64.2° and the water is a pleasant 69.6°.  There's essentially one tide today and it's a high at 2:23pm +4.6'.  The buoy is reading a 2.6' swell out of the SSW (205°).  We're calling it 1' to 2'.

A good day for learning as Alec and Suzi tackled some of the glassy little peelers.  Alec is showing some potential as a surfer, although he got a nasty fin scrape on the top of his foot.  Beats the hell out of getting stung by a stingray though.  Once again there were tons of them out there.  We talked to some divers the other night and they said there are about 5 to 10 species out here, including guitar fish, horned back rays, whipped tail rays and bat rays.  Shuffle those feets!

Our second shot is the old homestead across from cousin Wayne's dairy.  Sully and the Professor thought it was a good photo op of a dilapidated, abandoned shack.  That was until the resident pulled the curtains shut!  We've got to imagine the inside is really pretty nice, considering the shabby chic thing they've got going on the outside...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
