Return to Sender Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

And it's a good afternoon here in the sunny southland as we've returned from the land of pineapples, sugar cane and the Miloe Plantation.  Our excellent hosts, Chris and Barb Miloe showed us just about the best time you can have in the islandsThat is if you don't mind shallow, razor sharp reefs, multiple sets of tennis and too much good food.  Then again you get a guided tour of every inch of the island (Chris's knowledge of Oahu is absolutely encyclopedic and what he doesn't know Barbara does!), entree into places you didn't know existed and introductions to some of the nicest people you might meet anywhere!  Besides that Chris knows where every wave that's rideable is and when it's happening.   Our first shot today is right at the start of any surf trip going anywhere.  It's at the foot of the Duke!  We don't know how many have made the pilgrimage, but he's the one who started with the first step.  Aloha Duke!

A beautiful day today and there is 15 miles visibility and mostly sunny skies.  Winds were calm this morning as we glided in from the west and the seas were calm.  The air temperature was 65.7° and the water is 70.2°.  Low tide was at 5:35am +2.0' and high tide was at 12:13pm +5.5'.  The buoy was reading a 2.3' swell out of 213° and we're calling it 1' to 2' and not too exciting.

Our second photo is of the Miloes in their native habitat.  Not one to let grass grow under his feet, Chris will be heading out to Fiji soon to surf some of those extraordinary waters!  We expect a full report!
