Whack A Mole Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Yes, we're returned from the Tulare County Fair and we can tell you that it was quite the rural, agricultural, animal husband-like experience.  We toured with the Sullivan's (Margot (with a T) and Brian) and had several good times.  Among them was indulging on the pictured deep fried - powdered sugar morsel.  This happened to be an Oreo.  As you can see it it was dipped in batter (like the kind they use for funnel cakes) and then dropped into boiling oil.  A couple of minutes later it emerges from it's unctuous  bath, hotter than the hinges of hell.  Of course you have no way of knowing this, since the outer shell insulates it quite nicely.  You take a big bite and molten chocolate and creme filling solder your lips to the napkin.  You don't look odd though, because there are dozens of citizens stumbling around in the same condition.  The fresh squeezed lemonade concession was next door and doing a land-office business, thank you!

Light overcast skies this morning and 5 miles visibility.  Winds were calm and the sea surface was quite glassy.  The air temperature was 61.0° and the water was a comfortable 70.2°.  High tide was at 11:07am +6.1' and low tide will be at 5:58pm +0.2'.  The buoy is reading a SW swell out of 194° at 3.0'.  We're calling the surf 2' to 3', best on the rising tide.  Kinda fun actually!
