Mass Media Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Okay, here's a way to take a long walk off a short path if you're so inclined.  Most of you will immediately recognize the gazebo at Rat Beach (or formally "Roessler Point.")  Since we couldn't stop there, our second photo is the view north toward the hook of Torrance and Redondo Beaches.

Not much happening this morning.  Visibility is 20 miles under partly cloudy skies.  Winds are onshore from the get-go at 5.6kts and the sea surface is tacky and moving toward chop.  The air temperature is 64.4° and the water is holding at 70.2°.  High tide is at 7:38am +4.1' and low tide will be at 12:21pm +2.6'.  The 46221 buoy is reading a WSW swell out of 255° at 3.3'.  It's not translating to the beach very well and we're calling it 1' to 3' with the wind blowing it down as fast as it comes up.

Editor Notes:

  Regarding the Professor's new ink:

What is that icon? Looks like a bleeding heart! Is that significant?
  Carol

(Of course it's significant!  Do you think I'd put something like that on my arm just for the hell of it?  The top circle is an A and an F "chop" that Annie and I used to use on our prints when we were working artists.  There is a heart that turns into a pen and there's a drop of blood that has either come out of the pen or was drawn by it.  In the middle of the heart is a pair of exclamation points, suggesting some deep feral enthusiasm.  Behind that are crossed surfboards, because those are my tools/icons/interest/history/story.  Then there's the banner with "LoLa."  After 33 years she deserved a place in all of that.  Ed.)

Regarding the Waikiki pics...

I love Waikiki. I love the surf and the scene. We stayed at the Outrigger twice last year. Got good surf and had great times at Duke's.
Having a Pimm's Cup at the Napolean House in the French Quarter right now. Tres' refreshique!

Big Wave Dave

(Nothing like a little time in the French Quarter.  Have a beignet for us with a little chicory coffee!  Check the levies while your at it - something might be breaking!  Ed.)

When did you take that shot? 1962? Strange!
                                                              Sea Wolf

(Yeah, it's almost too easy to call it "timeless," but we will...  Ed.)

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
 The Professor!!
