Martin Luther King Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We joined the Dangers at their time share in Oceanside this weekend.  There were some good waves and needless to say, Danger Boy, was on fire.  We surfed about a third of the way out on the pier and it was still a long paddle.  The first day we got worked, sat for a while and then caught a few.  By Sunday, we knew where to sit and how the set-up worked and we got some good ones.  It was shoulder high and plenty of fun!

A bit hazy this morning with 20 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore all morning at 2.3kts and the sea surface was smooth to glassy.  The air temperature was a warming 55.5° and the water was a perfectly average January 56.5°.  High tide was at 6:46am +6.2' and low tide will be at 2:08pm -1.0'.  The full moon is Wednesday and there are significant tidal changes throughout the week.  Highs in the am and lows in the pms.  A SW swell out of 233° at 3.3' was having trouble with the tide early on.  We hit the Cove and got some nice ones before the crowd came stumbling down the hill.  We're calling it 2' to 4' with some full figured outsides...  If the wind holds off, it could work in the afternoon!

Here's a shot of the Oceanside Pier.  It's gotta be over a quarter mile long - in fact it's so long you can catch tuna off of the end.  Actually, that would be a tuna sandwich.  There's a Ruby's on the end of the pier.

The Coach needs your attention:

Do you feel called to live this Gospel passage?  If so, please consider helping me the first Saturday of each month to feed the homeless at the St. Francis Center in Downtown Los Angeles.  Some duties include prepping and cooking food, serving the meal, and washing pots and pans

This is a wonderful opportunity to be a doer of the Word, while having fun at the same time!  Please contact me with any questions.  (cell- 310-990-7311 or e-mail - jamesegnatuk@yahoo.com)

Thank you & God Bless

I thought I ran across this picture of you from the 60's...I'm just sayin'
Actually Hilary ran across this guy in Thailand.
Potential Dopelganger?
(Oh shit!  Do you know who that is?  That just happens to be Barry Santos!  He's been busting us for years.  He is famous for impersonating the Professor and has actually ghost written a number of Surf & Culture Reports.  Way glad he's in Thailand...)

(It's been a long time since we've heard from Maluko!  How are things on the High seas?  Write soon...  Ed.)

I have met Hap on many occasions and have attended parties with him and his wife. I met with him several times and watched him shape my 10' Jacobs Classic. The guy cetainly lives a charmed life. Everyone should be like him when they grow up!
