We've Been Bitten By A Martini Tuesaday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Whoa, we didn't mean to scare you Chris!  Looking a bit wild eyed there...  Yeah, well it was New Year's Eve and a lot of the surfistas were letting their hair down.  So pic No. 1 features Chris, Sandy, Edrina and Epi.  A lot of water time logged with this crew, considering Epi's Coast Guard stint...  Good group, good times...

Beautiful morning this, as we gaze all the way to the horizon and back.  Unlimited visibility, with only a few high clouds slipping through the ether.  Winds were significantly offshore, variable to 7.3kts all morning long.  The sea surface was smooth and slightly brushed.  The air temperature was a chilly 42.3° and the water wasn't warm at 55.4°.  High tide was at 8:309am +6.3' and low tide will be at 3:41pm -1.1'.  The buoy was reading a west swell out of  271° at 3.3' and we surfed Hermosa with Captain Donnie, at what we're calling 3' to 4'.  Fun, but not hilarious.

Meanwhile, our own private gypsy gazed into her crystal ball and revealed some of the secrets of the new year.  Like, she said that there would be a struggle between the forces of good and evil, but good would barely edge out bad and even embrace a bit of the not-so-bad, like you know, the mischievous.  Then she said there would be a new baby in the family and it would be Lilly Anne and she would be born to Rebecca Burke and that would make the Professor and LoLa GREAT-grandparents.  And LO it came to pass and dammit if she isn't as cute as a bug and we'll run a pic of her as soon as we get something that we can print.  She also said that this summer would be a hell of a lot warmer than last summer and there would be some good body surfing and maybe even some good waves all the way through spring and into the summer and the water would also get warmer than it was last year and WE could have made that prediction...

Happy New Year - You're beautiful...
