Lost Boys & Co...

Not often that such a fine set of cones are represented in the tailage of a fish.  Here, the always innovative Ché, has taken ordinary tailblock technology and turned it into sensually appealing finials on the trailing edges of this balsa beauty.  He's done a number of these now and his bay is beginning to look a bit like a cabinet shop.  What's next:  Maybe a little drawer with a Frenched pull for wax!

A beautiful Southern California winter's morning with high whispering clouds and temps going into the high 60's low 70's.  Winds are currently offshore by 3.5kts and the sea surface is uber smooth.  The air temp is 54.2° and the water is 56.3°.  Low tide is at 11:34am +1.2' and high tide will follow late at 6:02pm +2.6'.  The ever popular 46221 buoy is reading a west swell out of 260° true at 2.6'.  We're calling it 1' to 2', but everyone is saying that this will change dramatically in the next 24 hours.  Like Nathan Cool here:
Today (Thursday) is a small day for surf in SoCal, but it won't stay that way for long. NW ground swell increases Friday, and then WNW swell increases size further Saturday. Short range models now show a new development that could bring sizable NW swell on Tuesday the 19th, and models have upgraded the NW swell for the 21st. Condition-wise: offshore winds continue for a while; tidal will swing widely this weekend; and the weather warms over the next few days.

The Coach/Deacon asked us to post the flier about the Fr. Greg Boyle presentation.  If you've never heard Greg speak, then you're missing a bet.  He's been doing some great work in the inner city for some years now and his foundation "Home Boys/Girls" is currently in desperate need of help.  Considering the seriousness of his work, he's funnier than hell and if this priest gig ever tires, he could be a great stand-up guy. (Comedian, not paddler.)
