Fw: Frijoles and Arroz Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

When you get to be a certain age and you crank a bottom turn, you start looking like the crank...  No matter, the Professor says it felt good anyway...

A bit of rain this morning, light at times and breaking up.  Scheduled T-storms around noon, 12 miles visibility.  Kite flying advisory:  Don't.  Winds, gusty at times to 15kts and the sea surface is hacked and unorganized.  The air temp is 58.7° and the water is 61.7°.  High tide at 6:27am +4.7' and low tide will follow at 12:34pm (yes, 1-2-3-4) +2.0' on your radio dial.  The 46221 buoy tells us we have a SSW swell out of 198° at 3.3'.  However, we'll be waiting for that nor'wester at 315° to be dropping and send us a bit more west for some surf tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, there's a 6-way meet with Redondo, San Pedro, Costa, PV, South and El Segundo at the Hermosa Pier.  First heat hits the water at 10am and it goes until noon.  Each school's gotta spot in each heat.  Makes for some spirited competition!  Come on - you're up by 10...

Happy Hour tonight:  5:30pm  Union Cattle Co. (upper deck) in Hermosa.  If it rains, we'll go inside.

Photo #2 features a finned Tuk-Tuk.  The preferred method of taxi-type transportation in downtown Metapan, the Tuk-Tuk features:
Top Speed:  35, maybe 45mph
Gas Economy:  40-50 mpg
Braking Distance:  They don't use the brakes.
Passengers:  3 adults, 5 children, 4 chickens, 2 dogs + driver or 34 clowns
Options:  fins, spoilers, bright paint, multiple canopy styles, turbo-charged, custom grill work, Tommy-Boy mirrors and cartoon character names (like:  Road Runner, Dopey, and Chilly Willy)
Would be a great idea here in Redondo for getting around town...

For all of those who think they can't get along without their Wolfe Range, this clay model (#1) provided us with some of the best pupusas, tortillas, frijoles and arroz you can imagine...  We're going to build one...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
 The Professor!!
