Fw: Metapan Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We surfed with Melissa Mazur (#1) at Roca Sunzal and she ripped on some good sized waves.  Some indication of her game:  She paddled for one about TWICE this size!  She didn't catch it, but she was determined if she did...

Some good waves this weekend.  Saturday blew offshore all day and the 6-way South Bay Surf League had some absolutely stellar performances in the 3' to 4' surf.  This morning we still have a bit of swell despite the high tide.  20 miles visibility under partly cloudy skies.  Winds are offshore by 2.3kts and the sea surface is smooth.  The air temperature was 54.2° and the water is 61.3°.  High tide shows at 10:01am +5.6' and low tide will be at 5:39pm +0.1'.  The buoy is reading a west swell out of 260° at 3.0' and we'll concur.  Some good ones at Hermosa this morning, on both sides of the pier.

Mark "the Pool Man" Janicich, has surfed Roca for nearly a decade and his local knowledge serves him well.  This shot shows him flying out of the slot.  He "S" turned the guy paddling out, bounced off the foamball and did it all over again (without the guy.)  He was scoring some great waves...

Finally, we have the Professor, doing the Chuck Berry "duckwalk."  You know how you get an earworm and it just won't leave you alone?  Johnny B. Good, all day long...   ✠
