Monster Wave Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

It's Monday and we thought we'd start your week by putting a pucker where the sun don't shine.  This is a shot of Garrett McNamara on a 100' monster wave at Praia do Norté, Nazaré, Portugal.  The caption mentioned that Nazaré was trying to cash in on this photo to promote it as a big wave destination.  We'd say "ka-ching!" to that...

Not so big here as in Nazaré, but we have 20 miles visibility and clear southern California skies.  Winds were offshore by 5.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 52.3˚ and the water was 55.2˚.  High tide is at 8:34am +5.5' and low tide will be at 3:06pm -0.4'.  We have a west swell out of 260˚ at 2.6'.  2' to 3' and bigger as you slide north to HB, MB & EP.

Sugar cane and pineapples, might'a been Honolulu, but no...  It was up at the central mercado in Puerto Escondido.  The only thing extraordinary about this shot is that the pineapples were almost as big as basketballs!  We could only imagine that they tasted like wood.  The shopkeeper heard us and cut us a piece...  just like sugar!  We bought one and Donnie is probably still eating it!
