A Textbook Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

If you let something sit around for awhile, the Professor throws paint on it.  Actually, this is his take on what furniture should look like...  He found the chair without a seat on the Avalon offramp on the 91 freeway.  The embossed fan on the back spoke to him of a breaking wave.  So he just followed the outlines...

Clear skies and 15 miles visibility.  A bit of wind at 4kts out of the south, leaving a light bump on the water.  The air was a chilly 61.8˚ and the water is dipping at 64.9˚.  High tide is at 11:13am +4.6' and low tide will follow at 4:43pm +1.6'.  We have a west swell out of 262˚ at 2.6' and it's looking about 1' to 3' at the better spots.

The Professor had just paddled out into the first peak on the south side of the Hermosa Pier when he noticed a bit of commotion up above on the pier.  Apparently one of the fishermen had just hooked either a gigantic halibut, a white shark or a kraken.  Well, there was actually one other possibility and that would have been the Danger Boy option.  Alas, that just happened to be the choice of the day.  Danger Boy got his wetsuit arm snagged and his feet wrapped until he looked like he was auditioning for "Charlotte's Web: The Movie."  Meanwhile, the fisherperson finally realized he didn't have a Great White, but a Great Pink.  He became less enthusiastic by degrees until he was downright huffy.  Danger Boy managed to finally get unwound, but he kept the anchovy...
