Lost Boys & Co...

So in true form, while the South Bay is suffering under another one of the worst summers we've had in decades Morro Bay is warm and sunny.  We have no idea what we did to deserve this plague, but it must have been good... or bad...  (photo:  Buck Delameter Images)

Overcast this morning and 7 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 3kts at checkout and the sea surface was glassy.  The air temperature was 63.7˚ and the water was 64.4˚, both at least 5˚ under the normal temps for this time of year.  Low tide was at 7:27am +1.9' and high tide will be at 2:28pm +5.1'.  We have a west swell out of 260˚ at 2.6' and it's showing at about 1' to 3' and there were some fun ones at most spots.

We were perusing the results for the various categories of the Lifeguard National Championships and were happy to see a number of names we recognized.  Remember this is a competition that features all of the best lifeguards from the U.S., with a few Aussies and Brits thrown in.  First of all Tandis Morgan got 1st in the surf race, 1st in the paddleboard race and 1st in the surf ski.  She got an amazing 3rd in the ironwoman and finished 10th overall!  Her bro Tyler, got 1st in the surf ski, 3rd in the board race and 4th in the ironman.  He finished 4th in points overall!  Brian Murphy did really well but was most outstanding in the ironman finishing 1st.  And if you think the kids did well, Roddy Williams, who's age is somewhere between them and us, came in 1st in the surf boat and 1st in the Ironman in his age group!  When you see these guys make sure you congratulate them on their achievements.  If they were playing football or basketball they'd be household names!
