Circle Of Light Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

If you set these pics next to each other you get a panorama from the drain, back to the Hermosa Pier.  Not hugely awe inspiring, but gives you a bit of an idea what things looked like this morning.  Actually a bit of mist all along the bottom of the hill, suggesting some waves in those areas...

Bigger than the pics lead one to believe.  Visibility, depending on the rain, clouds and mist was from a hundred yards to +20 miles.  Winds were also wildly variable from 24kts during the night to 6 to 10kts from almost all points of the compass.  The sea surface was wild and wooly.  The air was 57.3˚ and the water was 64.9˚.  Low tide was at 6:51am +2.9' and high tide follows at 12:09pm +4.1' (sandbags?)  This morning the swell was running straight out of the west 270˚ at 10.2' and it was 8' to 10', but sketchy at a lot of places...

Speaking of the drain...  Capitán Donaldo said that when he was Capitán de las Salvavidas, the engineers came down and were discussing it's installation.  He suggested that it should be elevated enough to not need clearing.  One especially high-maka-maka engineer said that wasn't necessary since the drain was self-cleaning...  He we see the drain covered with sand and not quite clean...  Any other ideas?
