Flamingo Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Emma Waldinger, ripping the inside section.  Hermosa Beach, California.  What?  She surfs like a guy?  No, she surfs better than a lot of guys...

Cloudy this morning with 9 miles visibility.  Winds were calm and then turned off for most of the morning.  The sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 58.9˚ and the water was 65.7˚, making for a pleasant dip.  The rain didn't seem to drop things much at all...  High tide was at 7:41am +6.6' and low tide will follow at 2:46pm -0.9'.  We have a WSW swell out of 254˚ at 3.3' and it looked bigger than that on the back of the high tide, maybe 3' to 4' with an occasional bigger outside...

This is a true story.  We are not making this up...  most of it anyway...
The Professor was supposed to go over and watch Danger Boy, while Donna went to her ophthalmologist's appointment.  It was a pretty straightforward task.  Go to the "Fortress of Danger," keep an eye on Danger Boy for a couple of hours and make sure he didn't get into any trouble.  Got it.  No problem.  Hell, he's been out of the hospital for less than 24 hours and he was supposed to be in for at least a week to ten days.  The Professor thinks that DB will probably sleep most of the time and he might even get a few winks himself.  So Danger Girl takes her leave and Danger Boy and the Professor are yakking about stuff and the Professor mentions that Tio Ted, has been complaining about no one coming by to visit him.  So, DB says, "Well let's go by and see him!"  The Professor wonders if this is the opiates talking, or if he's getting to much oxygen or if he's forgetting that he's just been sprung by the hospital and still has a drain in his left cheek.  So, the Professor says, "Let's call him and maybe we can go see him tomorrow?"  But DB says, "Let's NOT call him and if we can't make it, no one will ever know!"  So, the Professor is thinking, "Well, he needs some exercise and Tio Ted is lonely, hell, let's give it a go..."  They pack up Danger Boy's oxygen, which he stashes in his golf bag along with a 9 iron and a putter, they pack his butt pillow and he grabs a hat.  The fact that he is still in his jammies, makes no never mind.  This is good because Tio Ted, after the Professor knocks and lets himself in, is still in his jammies.  Danger Boy, scampers up the stairs, the Professor doing his best to drag the golf bag up and not clothes-line him before he gets to the landing.  Tio Ted is glad to see the Professor and when he catches sight of Danger Boy, is overwhelmed and let's out a series of god-damns which haven't been heard since he and the ladder he was on, went from wall to ground.  They visited for well over an hour and the Professor and Danger Boy made it back minutes before Danger Girl walked in the door.  It wasn't like they weren't going to tell her, but she could tell from the giggling that something was up...
What you might learn from this:
1.  Danger Boy is one tough son-of-a-buck!
2.  There are many unconventional therapies that should be considered.
3.  Go visit Tio Ted.
4.  Jammies optional.
5.  Never.  Never.  Never, leave the Professor in charge...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
