Thundershower Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Rudolph getting a ride on '65 VW Bus...  It's not the destination, it's the journey...  Kinda gets you ready for the holidays...

Rainy, but some good conditions throughout the So. Bay.  200yds visibility under cloudy wet skies.  Winds stayed off all day, variable to 8.6kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 55.9˚ and the water is still in the mid-sixties at 64.6˚.  High tide was early at 4:59am +4.9' and low tide was at 11:59am +1.3'.  There's a powerful WSW swell out of 257˚ at 5.9' and depending on your location it was 3' to 8'.  It's getting bigger throughout the evening and we'll see what happens mañana!

Here we have Cata and her next door neighbor who was the inspiration for her pelican themed winning entry in the Hermosa Beach parking sticker competition.  When Cata came to this country from her native Chile, her roommate Clark suggested that she visit their next door neighbor who had recently lost his wife.  He was depressed and Cata would go over and chat it up with him.  She noticed that the house was full of pelican themed art and knick-knacks that his wife had collected over the years.  So she did this great image of a pelican to cheer him up and decided it would be perfect to submit in the parking sticker competition.  Despite the fact that she initially got a letter addressed to "Grace" somebody saying she had lost, she got a call inviting her down to the City Council to accept her winning full sized poster!  Now honestly, you would'a thought that she would have also gotten a parking sticker for all her effort, but no...  Apparently they'll have to drill for oil before anyone gets a break from Hermosa...
