 Lost Boys & Co...

Photo #1 is of a large portrait of the "Supreme Leader" that hangs in the Museum of the Revolution.  It's titled "The Triumph of the Prophecy."  The funny thing is, that it doesn't look like he's particularly happy with how things worked out.  We were a bit surprised that it was the first thing you see when you walk into the lobby of the museum.  Looking at it in a positive light you could say that he's shouldered the responsibility for the revolution.  No so good light and maybe he's saying, "Maybe it didn't turn out so great..."

A Basq Kitchen tonight at 5:30 for those eager and ready to start the weekend.  It's north of Quality Seafood and south of Naja's on the International Boardwalk, Redondo Pier.  Different than the usual fare, but interesting and good...

#2  These days you can invade the Bay of Pigs in a '75 Combi.  Instead of being repelled, they'll sell you a tall rum drink and some alligator tooth jewelry...

Another fun day in the surf!  15 miles  visibility and hazy skies.  Winds were strong offshore at 6.6kts and the sea surface had that reverse ripple going.  The air temp was 61.9º and the water is 64.9º and felt pretty warm.  Low tide was at 10:51am +1.9' and high tide will follow at 4:29pm +4.3'.  We have a west swell out of 271º at 2.6', but it seemed like we were the magnet and it was 3' and some fatter outsides if you were patient...

#3  A rather idyllic view of where the Cienega de Zapata empties into the Bahia de los Cochinos.  The swamp actually goes underground before it rises into the bay as a river for about a hundred yards.  The mixing of fresh and salt water always seems to create some interesting interactions.  Here the water can be dyed amber from the roots of the mangrove trees and they claim it's good for your skin.  There are a lot of fresh and saltwater fish, shrimp and conch and alligators that get up to 20' long.  They actually have an alligator farm where they raise the critters.  Why, we're not quite sure.  They've been around since the Pre-Cambrian era and seem to be doing quite well, thank you...
