Thinking It's Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Now we're waiting for the wave(s)...  You know that the waves this blast caused on Bikini Atoll probably weren't as big as the ones El Niño is kicking up all along the coast.  We're just trying to put things in perspective here...

Clear skies this morning, a welcome respite from the cloudies, with 20 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 6.5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 53.3º and the water remains at 60.1º.  Often we've expressed some amazement at the consistently warm temps over the last two seasons.  The LA Times featured an article today that announced that the last two years have been high temp record breakers.  At one point they said that if 2016 breaks the record it will be the first time in history that this has happened 3 years in a row!  They said, "The first detailed global temperature measurements were recorded in 1880 (19 years before Redondo Beach was incorporated.)  Since then, nine of the ten warmest years on record have occurred since 2002, according to NOAA."  We have judiciously avoided referring all of this as "Global Warming," but if NOAA thinks it's global and it's warming, we'll side with them.  High tide was at 6:53am +6.3' and low tide followed at 2:02pm -1.0'.  We have a west swell out of 239º at 4.6' and it was 4' to 6'...

Remember Happy Hour at Samba on Friday evening at 5:30 on the patio...  It's not the same if you're not there...  It's different...

Some nice ones this morning at Hermosa if you didn't mind the close-outs between the corners...

The sun sets on one of the record breaking days of the record breaking year 2015...
