A Victim Of Convenience Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

In it's day this was one of the optimo surf rides...  "SELBBUB" is on the plates, so when you see it looming behind you in the mirror it says "BUBBLES."

Not as hot today as yesterday, but sunny and 20 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 3.7kts and the sea surface was rolling glass.  The air temp was 62.3 and the water is 66.7.  Low tide was at 7:04am +3.4' and high tide follows at 1:25pm +4.3'.  Sometimes we wonder if the tide gurus are just messing with us and saying, "OK, low tide is 3.4, let's make high tide 4.3, Bwaa-haa-haa!  We have a SW swell out of 229º at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3' and a bit walled up...

Our last day in the Outer Banks (OBX) #2.  Some nice shoulder high waves and some bigger outsides.  Finally smoothed out after some stormy conditions.

Jetski stands guard while K.P. does some of her "Funism" artwork.  Shamelessly uplifting, you find them throughout the So. Bay. most often on the Esplanade and the Hermosa Strand Wall.  Despite the messages of positivism, fun and love, there's some guy who follows her around erasing them because he considers them graffiti.  Why doesn't he head down to the Port of Long Beach and protect the rail-yards?  Channel 4 was coming down to do a story on her and her artwork...  Tune in...

Happy hour at Greenbelt Friday evening at 5:30pm.  Should be a pleasant evening, especially if you show up!
