Heffalump Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

"Mr. & Mrs. Paine, your table is ready!"

Another hot one, twenty inches from the noonday sun...  Hazy and 15miles visibility.  Winds were light offshore by 2.2kts and the sea surface was glassy.  The air temperature was 79.3 and the water at the buoy is 65.8.  Low tide is at 5:59am +3.1' and high tide is at 12:25pm +4.7', so not much tidal differentiation.  We have a SSW swell out of 209º at 3.3' and it was 3' and wally-crashy-fast-kinda fun... actually...

Jimmy Barahona is really a structural engineer.  He glosses surfboards for the hell of it.  He's really good at it.  Maybe he's one of the best.  He can't wear a shirt because the threads get stuck in the gloss.  So, the obvious question is, "If your shirt has threads what about your pants?"  He said, "They don't seem to be a problem."  We asked if he had ever glossed a board naked?  The simple answer:  yes.

Nothing like wooden piers for sway, elasticity and charm...  boi-yoi-yoing!

Greenbelt for happy hour this week.  5:30pm on the patio...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
