Mournful Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Arguments about guns and "people kill people" and personal rights are all pretty fucking weak...  58 people this afternoon are in the ground because of some nut with an automatic weapon.  If Columbine, Sandy Hook and now Las Vegas can't convince you that we ought to outlaw these weapons, then we probably can't either...  As Jetski is fond of saying, "One kid gets his head stuck between the slats of a crib and they recall thousands of cribs.  But tens of people get gunned down and no one thinks about curbing these weapons."  So instead let's increase metal detectors in hotels, forbid outdoor concerts and outlaw country music...

Jetski, pondering all the shit going down...

10 miles visibility and clear skies.  Winds were offshore by 3.3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 65.0 and the water is 67.8.  High tide was at 8:17am +4.8' and low tide is at 1:56pm +1.7'.  We have a SSW swell out of 192º at 2.3' and it was 1' to almost 3' and more fun than not...

If you thought that things couldn't get any worse or weirder, then circulate the news that Tom Petty died.  Well, then he came back...  Wait...  Paul McCartney sent his condolences, wasn't he dead already once himself?  Come on, check out Abbey Road...  (Ivan and the latest concert T...)

Finally, on Sunday there was a paddle-out for the victims of the hurricanes that tore through Texas.  But between organizing for that disaster, we managed to be visited by hurricane Maria which laid Puerto Rico and the neighboring islands to waste.  By that time Paul Roustan had already come up with the Lone Star logo, but the funds are going to help all of the hurricanes victims...
