First In Flight Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Want a religious experience?  Go visit the Wright Memorial at Kill Devil Hill, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina (#1).  They flew from a spot somewhat below this hill where they had done hundreds of glider tests.  This bronze plaque (#2) marks the spot where they took off.  The plaque was installed on the 25th anniversary of the event and aviation had moved so rapidly that they had used airplanes in a world war, Lindbergh had soloed the Atlantic and Amelia Earhart was present at the dedication, already a renowned aviatrix!

Partly cloudy this morning with 10 miles visibility.  Winds are out of the WNW at 12.3kts and the sea surface is white capped.  The air temp is 60.3 and the water is 67.6.  High tide is at 9:55am +5.9' and low tide will follow at 4:32pm +0.1'.  We have a west swell out of 269º at 6.6' and it's a blown-out 4' to 6'.  If the winds die down (as predicted) there could be some waves of consequence...  Like truth or consequence.  That's the truth...

When in the Outer Banks (OBX) do as the Outer Banksters do (#3).  Doesn't seem like you can get much more outer (outré) than this...

If you're not up to your usual foolishness this evening, join us for a happy hour at Samba at 5:30 for some unusual foolishness...
