A Phonic Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here's this morning's playing field (#1).  40th St. El Porto.  We can see why El Porto surfers are so aggressive, angry and belligerent.  You have to wait in line until they open the gate at 6:15am and people are cutting in front of you, yelling and carrying on and in general making the entire experience so dismal that you want to take up checkers or something that doesn't require your presence at the beach.  Despite all that negativity co-captains Dane and Kade (#2) surfed like champs and helped propel Redondo to victory over El Segundo.  Once again our girls came in 1, 2, 3 in both short and longboard and looked impressive in the meantime.

Hazy sun this morning and less than 10 miles visibility.  Winds were out of the SSW from 1 to 2kts and the sea surface was smooth and most accommodating.  The air temp was 55.7º and the water is 59.4º and trying to lose that iodine smell.  Low tide was at 6:54am -1.1' and high tide fills in at 1:36pm +3.5'.  We have a SSW swell out of 195º at 3.3' and we had some 3' to 4' peaks coming through, wedging out to some nice lines.  Doc ? (#3) surfed like a pro today and managed not to get hooked, cut, diced, minced or sliced...  okay, maybe he got slightly minced...  Looking at super low tides in the morning, so plan to take off early and go fast...
