Aw Shucks Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

For a hundred pesos you get a dozen oysters (#1).  That's a little less than 50 cents a bivalve and they come with a squirt of lime and a dash of flavorful hot sauce (almost as good as Mr. Christiano's.)  Tarsan, Capitán Donaldo and the Professor made short work of that platter, for sure!

Started out cloudy this morning, but the sun broke through and visibility was about 10 miles.  Winds were light offshore and the sea surface was smooth. The air temp was 48.9º and the water is trying at 60.6º.  Low tide was at 6:46am +0.3' and high tide follows at 1:24pm +2.9'.  We have a SW swell out of 225º at 3.3' and it was 2' to 3' in the surf and some nice ones on the odd sets...

This is Témo (#2).  Témo's from Germany and he and his friend Kerstin surfed with us most days.  They didn't make it the morning after the rave, but they were there in the afternoon.  It's usually pretty quiet there, but one evening a bunch of families got together and kicked out the jams.  They went until 3am or 4 or something and a bunch of the traveling surfers joined in.  This made it not so good for sleeping, but great for an uncrowded lineup the next morning...  When they're in Europe they surf Tenerifé and the southern coast of Portugal...

Sunrise (#3) comes bobbing up over the ocean, kinda like El Salvador.  Unlike E.S. it sets behind a big hill about 5pm.  It stays light for awhile and then when the sun actually sets it really gets dark.  We went swimming one night and there's enough bio-luminescence in the ocean from the lagoon that it puts on a pretty good show.  The stars were pretty spectacular as well and you could really see the Milky Way, unlike our southern California sky...

Loved this bicycle (#4) they use to bring supplies to the lanchas...
