After The Storm Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Always looking for a fixer-upper in paradise, we ran into a few.  #1 was actually a burned out church that happened to be right in front of where Father Damien (of Leprosy fame) built his first church...  A little far from the beach, but it was stone construction and had a great foundation...

Another overcast morning with a little less than 6 miles visibility.  Winds were out of the SW by 4 to 6kts and the sea surface was roughly textured.  The air temp was 64.5º and the water is 67.5º and needs a bit of sun to jack it up a bit.  Low tide was early at 4:58am +2.3' and high tide follows at 11:17am +5.7'.  It's a SSW swell out of 200º at 2.6' and it was 1' to 2' and you could pick several things to keep you out of the water.  A. The small surf.  B.  Blown out conditions.  C.  High bacteria count from yesterday's rain.

This (#2) clapboard two-room was occupied until just a few years ago when the Auntie who lived there got so blind she couldn't take care of herself.  There's a stream a bit downhill and banana, mango and papaya trees in the yard.  If you're ambitious, you could also have a taro patch...  Paint still looked good...

A two story leaner (#3) behind the bakery in Kuanakaki.  Needs a plumbing upgrade, restoration of electricity and a little paint wouldn't hurt.  Natural wood finish does have a certain charm though...
