Ferrimagnetic Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Just in case you're not appreciating the recent warm weather, here's a shot of McCall, Idaho last week.  That's a pine tree covered with freshly fallen snow...

A little cloudy this morning with 20 miles visibility and a bit of haze.  Winds were erratic, but mostly out of the east by 3.9kts.  The sea surface was slightly rolled with a short bump between sets.  The air temp was 55.0° and the water was a refreshing 57.0°.  That was pointed up, when we tried to squeeze into our relatively new Billabong wetsuit and ripped a seam.  Oh, you've never heard of a Billabong wetsuit?  You didn't know they made them?  Well, they do and as near as we can tell, that might be the last one we purchase.  High tide was at 7:02am +4.3' and low tide will follow at 1:34pm +0.4'.  The buoy is reading a surprise 5.2' swell out of 261° W and we're calling it 4' to 6'.  Topaz and Sapphire were on pphire and there were some critical drops and then as the tide lowered, some rather sketchy faces.  Not as sketchy as our face, but pretty sketchy...

In the Mail:
Aloha Prof  where are you?  Sure wish you two were here.  Weather ok,  Surf pretty good and no big stuff.  Headed to Flies this afternoon to meet Bill Mason after work.  It is about head high, offshore, sunny, 80 degree water, so not a lot going for it, but I will do my best to enjoy.
How was your trip?  Catch anything?
What are the chances of getting a Fall trip to Mexico going.  I have decided not to go back to Namotu Fiji as too much money mostly.  But still want to surf.  There are so many surfing places in Mex mainland, I am thinking it is time to try one out.  Plus, Paul will go with me on a Mexico trip.  Tell me what you think.
(We are back in Redondo until the end of the month.  We wish we were with you as well!  Not just the company and the surf, but that warm water is magic!  Tell Bill we said "hello."  There has been loose talk about going to Mexico in the fall.  There is always Zihuatenejo, but TJ has a couple of places in mind and we could be convinced to hit Puerto Escondido again.  Let's talk it up!   Ed.)

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
