Team Foul Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

That perfect wave is always where you find it...
Hi Professor,
It's amazing!  Two weeks ago I drove out to Death Valley and found the perfect wave!!  Took a big one on the head and ended up with some serious sand in serious places.  Other than that it was a good score.
All the best,
Poseur
(Mike "Poseur" McKinney always comes through with some of the best images around!  We'll bet after that initial wipeout, he was surfing this beauty to the max.  Speaking of good photographers, Randy Ruby has been producing some great images this winter.  He has some especially good dolphin shots, as well as some fine surfing photos.  Almost all of his shots of from the avenues, so it's fun to see days you remember captured so cleverly.  Ed.)

Mostly sunny this morning with 15 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 7.8kts and the sea surface was smooth early, giving way to a light tack around 9:30 - 10am.  The air temperature was 51.3° and the water was 57.7° after taking a hit from the rain yesterday.  High tide was at 9:33am +4.2' and low tide is at 3:10pm
+0.9'.  The buoy is reading a 5.2' swell out of 235° SW and we're calling it 3' to 6' with some generous outsides.  Topaz had some gnarly takeoffs and merciless shoulders, while Sapphire served up that alpine peak, off the rocks on the odd set.  It was fair to good and more fun than that!

I had a great time (in Hawaii) without you, so there.  But, it could have been better had Annie and you made a showing.  Saw her today and figured you timed the skiing well, as all I heard about on the internet was the great snow from Mammoth to Canada. Welcome home too.
What about going to a Mex surf resort this Fall?  Annie says go to Playa Escondido.   I want simple, pampered, good food, drinks over the water, and cheap enough that our friends will go.
(Okay, you mean Puerto Escondido.  It's simple, not especially pampered though, good food, drinks (and the water's okay) and reasonable enough for those interested.  Who's interested?  I'll check it out!   Ed.)

Finally, LoLa sent us this website to check out the "Yike Bike."

We checked it out and said, "Yikes!"

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
 The Professor!!
