Heartthrob Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

No rain this morning and mostly sunny skies for the morning session.  20 miles visibility and it's clouding up as the afternoon approaches.  Winds were offshore by 6.3kts and the sea surface was smooth with a pronounced roll.  The air temp was a chilly 47.3° and the water has dropped 6° since Tuesday to 54.3°.  All of that wind obviously had an effect on the upwelling of cooler water.  Low tide is at 11:27am -0.1' and high tide will follow at 6:22pm +4.1'.  The buoy is reading a WNW swell out of 286° at 7.2' and we're calling it 5' to 8'.  The tide was really having it's way with the surf.  As it dropped, things got rounder and more critical.  There were a lot of surfers trying for the late drop-in and getting pitched in the process.

Finally, we have a few more shots of the Becker Vs Brother's Soccer match.  Number one suggests that size isn't everything in soccer (versus, say basketball.)  Here we have José squeaking through and stealing the ball from his gigantic opponent.  Two, demonstrates that even though you might have the concept down, there is something to be said about the execution.  Wheatley thought he'd try the same move as José and ended up getting strained through the net.  And finally we have both sides trying to get out of the clutches of the netting and make it to the ball.  We'll let you know when the next match takes place!
