Lost Boys & Co...

Father Michael Lenihan passed away last night around 11pm.  His impact on the parish of St. Lawrence Martyr and the people of that church is inestimable.  Not unlike the patrons he championed, Mother Teresa, St. Patrick and St. Lawrence, he is in that communion of saints.  You can wonder, philosophize and dream, but if there's a heaven he's in it...

Cold this morning at checkout, so we stopped at Brother's with Gidget first and fueled up on yogurt and hot coffee.  The air was 44.6° and the water was 55.6°.  Brrr...  15 miles visibility under partly cloudy skies, getting cloudier as the day progresses.  Winds were offshore by 5.5kts and the sea surface had some residual bump from yesterday and last night's winds.  Low tide was at 8:11am -0.1' and high tide is at 2:49pm +3.1'.  We have a WSW swell out of 254° at 5.2'.  We're calling it 5' to 8' on the Topaz side with some gaping tubes and long sizzling sections.  Sapphire was decidedly peakier, but the bounce off the jetty was making for some sketchy entries.  4' to 6' at Sapphire.

Photo #2 shows the freeway entrance to the break outside of the jetty somewhere in Mexico.  We spooked the local bait fish and they responded by beating the shit out of us as we paddled.  Photo #3, show the set-up.  You can barely see the outside.  The blip of whitewater and the right shoulder there is one-third of the wave...
It's a long one...

Not EXACTLY News:
Danger Boy is in the hospital.  After feeling some ominous back pains he headed to the infirmary and was taken to the hospital in the throes of a full-on kidney stone attack.  Several carpules of morphine later, he embraced the entire notion of kidneys, narcotics and bliss.  Let us hope these too, will pass...

Per Mrs. Danger, Danger Boy is resting comfortably at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles.  Good Samaritan is called that because they don't really have any medical staff, but just nice people who want to help total strangers.  He is able to receive phone calls and would enjoy hearing from you.  His cell phone number is 310-863-8664.  The phone number to the hospital is 213-977-2121.  He is in room 527.

(Remember to talk really slow...  Oh yeah, listen slow too...  Ed.)

Liz, we need to spend more time on you...  You're getting lots of ink - we understand.  More later (including a list of Lost Boys you touched so tenderly...)
