Lost Boys & Co...

Wanna feel tall?  Stroll through the mercado where the canopies are hung just below head level for a medium sized gringo.  You can sample the crickets (either fried or fresh.)  The Professor says the fried ones are lots better than the fresh.  Oh!  That's because you're supposed to fry them!  Our bad...

♣ Keegan's tonight at 5pm for a St. Paddy's day dance and social.  Guinness anyone?...♣

High clouds this morning with 12 miles visibility.  Winds lightly onshore from the get-go turning up about 10am, sea surface was bumped.  The air temp was 53.7° and the water was 55.6°.  High tide at 8:01am +5.7' and low tide will follow at 2:38pm -0.8'.  The buoy is reading a west swell out of 271° at 4.6' and we're calling it 3' to 5'.  The swell is supposed to keep building.  Check it out...

And you thought it was cold here...
Well after planes, trains, and automobiles (all wearing a suit "a la endless summer") I made it to Rhode Island.
Surf report for Newport 2nd Beach: super fun. 2-4 ft @9sec. Chest to shoulder high. SSE wind swell. Semi glassy with offshore winds. Water temp 40 degrees. seven surfers out.
Every duck dive was a brain freeze, made me feel like throwing up. I will be sure not to complain the next time water in CA goes down to 55 degrees. The locals were showing the Cali boy the Aloha spirit. Caught several fun waves. The new board is working great. Thanks Barahona! fantastic down the line speed. Cranked a couple turns. Slotted into an outside bomb, turned up into the pocket, it threw out, then the lip hit my face.. sudden freeze stunned me. Dialed in the thick booties, like standing on pillows. Surfed until I couldn't feel my feet. Super stoked on the adventure. Headed to the OBX saturday.
Endless Winter.
