Lost Boys & Co...

Photo #1.  This is what he likes the best !  (Alek Moch, age 6, rockin' the super-pipe at Mammoth.)  (Still lots of snow in the frozen north!   Ed.)

Might be lots of snow still in the mountains, but it's all summer here, all day long today.  Clear (with a bit of smoggy haze) and 17 miles visibility at checkout.  Winds were calm to light from the north and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 60.3°, rising to around 85° after mid-day.  The water still hasn't got the message and registered 57.9°.  With all this sun it has to get a bit warmer soon.  High tide was at 11:18am +3.5' and low tide does a minor drain at 3:57pm 2.0'.  Not too much difference.  46221 says we have a SSW swell out of 202° at 3.0'.  And we're saying it's right on!  3' little spankers, rolling through the shallows and jumping up in just the right places.  Fun for some noseriding, testing your balance on the tip or just cruising until your fin drags...

Photo #2.  What do we mean when we say "glassy."  This wasn't exactly it, but LoLa was pretty happy with this haul on Monday.  We discovered a rather isolated beachcombing spot under everyone's nose!

Mail:
Live by the sword, die by the sword...and the beat goes on...
Stay alert and keep wearing slip-ons to the airports.
Carol   (Uh, we've been wearing slaps forever!  Actually, we were reading that there are a lot of young folks who can't remember ever being able to take shampoo on an airplane!  Yeah - Boomfwappa used to lather up right there in business class...  Ed.)

Hey watch that, do you want to die by the surfboard?
Easky   (We were thinking about that "Live by - die by" saying after Easky mentioned it in relation to surfing.  Guess the answer is to be careful to pick what you "live" by...  That being said, it probably beats cancer, cholera and an obstructed bowel...  Ed.)

(From yesterday) Photo #1 is spooky....
#2 is great in a different way. Are those hungry gulls waiting for the next school of dead mackeral to bump into the rocks?
Carol   (Those are perfectly sated pelicans, who are waiting for... we have no idea!  Not long ago Ken Norris said that he noticed that they only fly south.  He walks several days a week and based on years of observation he is pretty sure they only fly south.  Once he said that, we couldn't wait to run down to the beach and find some flying north.  For two weeks we only saw them flying south.  Then we saw a couple flying north, but like Ken said, they're mostly flying south.  So now it's kinda bugging us.  We keep watching.  We're thinking, "Okay, they have a boat that brings them all back at night and they start fresh in the morning."  Or, "There's a huge stream of pelicans that goes all the way around the earth and they just keep flying south until they start flying north on the other side and then back south on this side."  Finally, we decided that we will be running out of pelicans soon and they will all be south somewhere...  Ed.)

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
