We Think It's Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Surfed Peniche/Baleal a couple of days & found a rock reef in the middle of the North Bay at Baleal.  Our accommodations were right on the water, so we could sit up in bed and look right at the surf break.  It was a good 4' and maybe  8' on the outside and it was  a snappy left and a soft right - which we thought was pretty fine for going straight down and then scooting out in front of the foam ball.  The surprise was that the water was warm - like 66 degrees!  A bit too warm in a 4/3...

Today we are in the Algarve region in the village of Herdade Salgados, which translates poorly to "The Salty Ranch."  The surf is 1' and poor, although we could see some rocky areas and it appears that there might be some possibilities if there were a swell.  We're going to head out soon and check it out to the west (toward the city of Sagres.)  Today is a bit drizzly, but the rest of the week is supposed to be sunny.

As soon as we can hook up the Lost Boys cam - we'll send some pics!

One slight problem - we appear to be eating our way through Portugal.  The food is incredible - moderately priced and the service is great.  But dammit we're eating too much.  Trying to exercise, but we can't quite keep up...  Like how can you deny something like the "Festa do Bacalhou!" (Cod Fish Festival.)  We couldn't...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
