No Mosquitos Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We've been hearing that there's been this outbreak of West Nile virus spread by a toxic strain of pesky mosquitos.  Apparently spiders eat mosquitos.  There are no signs of mosquitos at this house in Hermosa, but they look like they've got bigger problems...

Stormy Monday for your surfing pleasure.  15 miles visibility under cloudy and at times, weepy or rainy skies.  Winds were 19.1kts at checkout and the sea surface was white-capped.  The air wasn't too bad at 60.2° but the water's gone down a bit to 64.6°.  High tide at 6:32am +4.4' and low tide will be at 12:19pm +2.4'.  We have a west swell out of 267° at 5.9'.  We'll call it 4' to 5' and pretty mixed up.  Could be some weather for the next couple of days, but once the wind stops the surf could improve markedly...

We'd have you guess where photo #2 was taken, but it's so obvious that we won't bother.  Yes!  It's Iceland.  How do you explain to Birdie when you take your board in to be fixed that you ran into an ice floe?  Easy, you say "Birdie, I dinged my board on an ice floe."  He then says, "Okay, it'll be done Tuesday..."

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
