Mick Fanning Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

It's Saturday at 4:30.  Pig Roast minus 30 minutes.  Time to turn the piggy over and crisp up all the skin.  It's raining, no, it's pouring like a cow pissing on a flat rock.  LoLa says to the Professor, "Are we still gonna do this?"  The Professor says, "These people are all surfers.  They own wetsuits.  TURN OVER THE PIGGY!"  (photo credit:  Barbara Miloe for the Honolulu Advertiser)

Cloudy this morning with 7 miles visibility and uncharacteristic humidity for So. Cal.  Winds were out of the SE by 4.5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 73.9˚ and the water was 69.8˚.  Low tide was at 6:39 am +0.5' and high tide will be at 1:20pm +4.3'.  The swell is too south at 189˚ and was 3.9' at the buoy.  Unfortunately, it wasn't making the turn and it was 1' to 2', but some nice tubing little knee knockers to exercise your calves...  or is that calfs?

Thank you to all of you who braved the initial downpour and made it to the pig roast.  After the initial count of the empties, the Professor calculated that if each person had one beer, we had four hundred participants.  We changed the algorithm and it appears that each person had 4.04 beers and that's counting Coconut who didn't have any but plied the crowd with Tiki Punch...

Sharing a "Coronita Margarita" with Ali-bab-wa in a Mexican restaurant off Koa St. in Waikiki...  It's a melting pot out there and you need to cool off...
