A Magnific Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

You think the weather's crazy here in the South Bay?  You should try Big Bear...  #1 is halfway down the backside on Friday after they closed highway 18.  By the time we got to Apple Valley all the phones went crazy with alarms.  No, not Amber Alerts, but flash flood alerts.  Apple Valley looked like Apple Lake...  Trigger was on a raft...

Cloudy, with intermittent rain throughout the day.  5 to 10 miles visibility depending...  Winds are heavy on from 18 to 25kts and the sea surface is rugged.  The air temperature is 52.7 and the water is 58.5.  High tide was at 6:04am +5.2' and low tide will be at 1:21pm +0.1'.  We have a 9.2' swell out of the west 260º.  It's 6' to 8' but highly irregular and often intense...  Investigate coffee...

#2  Manhattan Pier yesterday about 8:30am.  The wind was howling offshore at 15 to 20kts and it looks fabulous for about an hour until it did a 180 and blew the surf up, then down, then out...

Sunday's sunset from the avenues.  A blast of sunlight for the requisite 10 minutes at the end of the day, with a green flash lurking in the whitewater...  If you thought to turn around you caught this golden rainbow...  No, no golden showers...

Sometimes you're bombing down the 110 and traffic just stops...  What?  A little rain and everyone panics...  Just take the board off the roof and paddle to KFC and get the extra crispy...
