Lucky Seven Jah Morgan's Day Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

The eager and curious (#1) gathered to féte Jah Morgan and her seven straight years of surfing every day.  The crowd swelled at times to several hundred if you counted the volleyball players on the sand, but likewise included Nina-Mom from down south, Hermosa-Mom, Husbands, wives, Santa Monica elves and local yokels...

Sunny and warm for the big day, with light onshore winds and smooth surface conditions.  The air was 64.9º at checkout and the water was 69.3º at the buoy.  Low tide was at 10:09am +2.0' and high tide followed at 5:07pm +5.2'.  We had a 3.0' SSW swell out of 195º and it was 2' to 3' and a good time was had by all!

The Santa Monica contingent in alphabetical rashies (#2).  At times spelling O-M-G-A-R-N, G-R-O-M-A-N and N-A-M-R-O-G, they finally got it together and lined up for a rousing MORGAN!

Yes!  The crew actually got wet and here (#3) we have Jah herself dipping on a nice little insider.  Probably 15 to 20 of the crew showed up in the water, including José Barahona, Kevin Sousa and Brendan Simmons...

And hubby got into the act as well, as we see him here (#4) getting ready to plant his size twelves on the nose.  Unlike yesterday the waves were smaller and a bit more playful than the slabs we didn't enjoy in the morning...
