Sometimes On Sunday When There's Collateral Carnage Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
Of course the big news on the Boogie™ scene is that Doc Scale was in the line-up this morning. He sat outside waiting for the set waves and didn't disappoint as he and A-Aron vied for position. It wasn't carnage but it was something close as Doc pulled ahead and then what appeared to be through A-Aron. Everyone in and out of the water waited to see who would surface and to their great delight and relief both washed up on the beach simultaneously.
Kathy Welch debuted in her matching boogie and outfit. She too waited on the outside and Tom gave her pointers as she stretched to the inside. Speaking of Tom, we guessed his foot was a size 12. Nay nay, it's a 14 and once again he shunned fins for obvious reasons.
"Big Drop" Burnsy was rockin' the leap as she took off late on both the Rocket™ and her boogie. Two great rights that demonstrated her aquatic skills. Rocket Miller rode the "Tuna" today to great advantage and mangled the inside sections. Supah-Anupa blew some great spray in her straight off takeoffs and classic bottom turns. She was coming off of a successful fishing derby yesterday at Topanga.
Also rocking the Rocket™ was José Bacallao on the south side of the area almost to "Annaland." He shows amazing control on whatever he happens to be surfing. We were glad to see Tarsan and Claudia get in the water and body surf with the boogers. LoLa also ditched her board for a bit of body surfing as she did her patented "Outrigger™" angle.
If you didn't make it today there's one more day of Boogie magic and Labor Day celebration. Word is that the surf is going to be coming up and we may have to ditch the boogers later this week.
