Three Men In A Tub Friday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
Here we have (#1) three fellows who have surfed a few hundred thousand waves between them. On your left is Fred Tisue, the best surfing dentist ever. Now you can argue that Doc Ball was the first, Barney Wilkes was an innovator in both dentistry and surfing and Don James got the most shots in the mags. But none of them ever caught more waves, bigger waves (Mexico, Tavarua, Hawaii, etc.) or rode as long as Fred. We still have his fillings in our heads after all these years. Then there's Capt. Donaldo, who's record speaks for itself. If you don't know Donnie, you don't know surfing in the South Bay or Mexico or Hawaii. There's only one question: "Do you know Don Souther?" The Professor has a tattoo... (That's the best we could do...)
Overcast with 6 miles visibility. Noticeably cooler. Air 66.1º and the water is down to 67.8º. High tide at 8:08am a wonky +3.9' and low tide follows at 12:08pm +3.1'. It's a SSW swell out of 203º at 2.6' and there were weak two footers close to shore.
Think about longer wetsuits this weekend...
