Keep It Flowin' Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So, in the distance we could see this perfectly green mountain in the midst of all this brown sagebrush.  But it wasn't green like you'd expect something covered in vegetation to be.  It looked like a giant chunk of patinaed copper.  And that's exactly what it was, a mountain of copper ore!  We investigated and actually found among the copper, pieces of ore that were on their way to becoming turquoise.  Of course they just need a few more thousand years.  In the foreground of the photo of LoLa with her chunk of the pile you can see a small nugget of turquoise waiting to be snatched up...

June gloom and 5 miles visibility.  Winds were slightly off from 119˚ at 2.1kts and the sea surface had a small bump.  The air temp was 60.5˚ and the water was 66.2˚.  High tide is at 10:13am +3.7' and low tide will follow at 2:51pm +2.1'.  We currently have a SSW swell out of 198˚ at 5.2' that isn't quite making the turn, although Indicator looks like it's got some action...  Take a look mañana and see if it managed to wrap...

Photo 2 is of a charcoal kiln not far from the aqueduct.  You used to be able to walk right up to these babies and appreciate them from up close.  Unfortunately, people kept taking chunks and they are now in rather ravaged condition.

We're out for the weekend and won't be back until the 9th, so there more than likely won't be a Monday report.  Could be good this weekend!
