Monsoon Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Some spectacular weather as of late.  Our first image shows a classic thunderhead rearing up between Catalina and Palos Verdes.  About a half an hour after we took the first pic, it had blown up to this rather ominous column of water vapor.  By 9am it was raining like crazy and by 11 it was sunny and bright again...

Fabulous visibility, 20 miles plus with those thunderheads and assorted clouds bumping around.  Rain, sun and partly cloudy with the winds blowing off shore at 5.2kts.  Some nice tack on the water.  The air temperature was 49.3˚ and the water is 60.4˚.  High tide is at 7:10am +5.3' and low tide will be at 1:59pm -0.3'.  We have a west swell out of 260˚ at 2.6' and it's 1' to 2' on the sand trying to skim over that high tide...

Before it started to rain, another cell was rotating to the north, aiming itself at Santa Monica.  Lots of lightning and thunder, but in the midst of all that sturm und drang, there was this rainbow column of light.  You know, when life gives you rain, make rainbows.  When it gives you lemons, ask for limes instead and make margaritas...
