Suburban Logging Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So, we're nothing if we're not into sustainability.  We got this Monterrey Pine from Danger Boy and plan to raise it to adulthood, harvest it and make a surfboard from the planks.  Obviously, this is a long term project...  Because it was from Danger Boy we have taken to calling it the Douglas "Fir" Ball...  Your emphasis will determine whether that's "Douglas Fir" or "Fur Ball."

Partly cloudy skies and 10 miles visibility this morning.  Winds were offshore by 3.7kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 55.7 and the water is up one to 58.5.  Low tide was at 7:44am +0.4' and high tide will be at 2:45pm +3.1'.  We have a 5.9' swell out of 266º west and it was chest to head high this morning...  Supposed to be a bit irregular in the morning so make sure you check it out...

Speaking of logging, here's some interesting lumber in the jungle west of the ruins in Palenque.  Actually a tree with a creeper of some size wrapping it's way around the trunk...  They use these for pillars in a lot of restaurants and hotels...

#3 is a panorama of one of the travertine lakes in which we swam in the area around Palenque.  This is in Chiapas, so it's about as far south as you can get and not drink Guatemalan beer...
